White balance on a stock standard DSLR

Hi all,

When doing long exposure stuff with a stock standard DLSR with
a Ha filter screwed on the front, do I need to put the White balance
off of auto? IE , will it try and compensate because of the lack of
signal in anything other than the red?

Sounds silly, but I thought I'd ask anyway

I'm trying some Ha stuff with the std 18-55mm lens tonight.
Settings are : 10 min subs @ f6.8 ISO 800
Widefield stuff mainly around Crux....cloud everywhere else!
Piggybacked on the GEM
Suggestions welcome

cheers,

Edit: beaten by clouds again in Adelaide...another night.
