The largest club in VIC is the Astronomical Society of Victoria(ASV). They have a website at www.asv.org.au .

There are 2 events on this weekend that are worth attending. The ASV has its Messier Star Party on Saturday night at their Dark site near Heathcote. There is info on their website about that one. Then there is the Snake Valley Camp near Ballarat which is four 4 nights over the weekend. See link on forum on this site here http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=53277
Looks like Snake Valley will be a ripper this time and may be a little easier to get to.
These sort of events are the best way to learn.
