Gerald - Thanks for the extra info - My GM8 is a stepper driven model, not a Gemini.. Hopefully it wont consume motors!
I'm going at it now with turps cleaning all the components as best as possible. the mount will be rebuilt and greased tomorrow using automotive wheel bearing grease as per Geralds instructions..
I'll take a series of photos along the way for anyone who's interested..
