Do you have any kids at UNI or Tafe?
If so they may be able to buy Windows 7 Professional (any edition..incl 32bit & 64bit...1 of each, $49 ea) or Office 2007 ultimate edition ($70).

I'm pretty sure they are upgrade editions...but you many users have clean installed them no problems
