An awful lot of work went into that tube. What was the wood ?
I remember making a smaller one out of three plies of 1/32" balsa many years ago, which was cold moulded diagonally, rather than glued lengthwise and milled (routed) like that one. The cold moulding method produced a very strong tube with no need for rings.
