I found the answer to the problem right here in my drawer of my desk.
The "rubber grib" on the camera of course is not rubber it is Vinyl or Leatherette.
Yesterday afternoon I applied 'Glue Stick' to the small section on the camera that would not stick. This morning I found it was the perfect answer. It was still sticky and it stuck again when I pushed it back in place. Fantastic.
