Glad you found the ED127 a goer. It's almost surprising that they're as cheap as they are for what they're capable of producing. I've had enough of the "advanced" focuser that came with it and am saving for a motorised Moonlite. That should top off a very reliable piece of glass.
From memory, the 8300 is an APS-C sized chip, so, if I was to image the Rosette with my 40D, I should end up with a similar field of view, yeah?
