I know it is a pain in the bum and shouldn't need to be done but slap your watermark right across the middle of your photos or somewhere that if cropped out will ruin the whole image.
Reduce the opacity a little so it is not so intrusive to the shot.
I put my watermark in places that if cropped out will ruin the shot, if I am going to post to Flickr ( I am yet to upload to my account).
