The UPS has no effect on shutting down your PC, other than to cut power, which would be as destructive as just turning off the wall outlet.

Your UPS can not "shutdown" or "Re-boot" your PC.
The UPS is to protect your PC in the event of a power outage.
Rather than the power just going off, the UPS gives a few minutes of power + a warning sound to let you shutdown your PC correctly before the UPS runs out of battery power.

That's all. Many UPS's also have a Surge Protector built in.


I have an 1100 UPS. This is for my telephone PABX system only. So that I still have a home ph if the power goes out.
