Oh just realise, I must have only imaged in Prime Focus and not Afocal use which you have tried. I have recently purchaced some Baader lenses and get to set up a camera although not sure as yet my direction for Afocal imagery.
On another point, the camera you mentioned in the first post recently I tried another one with lower light capability and higher resolution. It provided good imagery once I used Registax on it but had significant noise which was possible to remove. The noise was a big issue during obs.
One thing I found was the noise on Security cameras was more random, this made registax work more effectively in removing the noise whereas as many webcams have more simmetrical noise and lines which can be more difficult to remove. The symmertry of webcam noise required settings to be managed during capture.
There is a lot of pro's and con's but I think you will find general obs with webcams is not that effective.
