Michael,

They'll sort it out, one way or another. I have had good experience with Canon support and maintenance. One of my lenses had a known flaring problem. I took the lens in to their Ryde office and they had it fixed and cleaned and couriered to me within two weeks. Because it was a known issue, it didn't cost me a cent.

If worst comes to worst, they may just replace the camera.
