I didn't notice if it is normal for the green "Charging" LED to blink during the charging process or not but as long as it does not go out it at least means it is charging - the "Fully charged" LED should be constantly on when it is full charged; I just checked mine
Not sure if the trickle mode charge is good since the battery was at least fully depleted, perhaps you need to hi-charge it for at least 30 minutes initially to give it a kick-start so to speak
