I think it is all about filling your peripheral vision to experience true virtual immersion. The action is usually centered on the screen. I think our field of view is about 140 degrees to extents. Given the Imax theatre has steeply angled seating array it will be important to have eyeline near the center of the screen, which will rapidly go awry without the right seats. I'm going to do my research on this and find out the ideal seating point. Will report back.
I 'm going to see if I can find a wrap around style 3d glasses so the clunky frames aren't in the way !

It won't be long before we can have this sort of experince at home . All of these kind of movies will be available in the whats called page flipping format on Blu Ray 3D format ( now agreed on by the makers ) , and Nvidea has a new shutter glases system which will support 60 fps for each eye for about $200 USD. There is a new HD DLP home theatre projector the Optoma HD 66 ( US $699) that syncs at 120fps and is fully compatable with the Nvidea S3D system.

I expect In a couple of years I'll be able to experience Avatar in my living room with a 4 meter screen. Bring it on !
