I currently have Allan's HEQ5, and I attest to its performance... I've never lost a single sub to any sort of mount error.... I run 20 minute subs every time I image, never lose a single one...
Perhaps the most under rated commonly available piece of equipment around..
My thoughts on your problem... 12v 1.25A power controller...
I have mine connected to a 12v 10A power supply, and I believe these mounts require around 4A to operate properly... That is the first thing I'd check...
