Stellarium uses the standard algorithms to calculate the solar system positions and places them at the positions that they occupy in real time.

The positions as seen from earth, or any other position in space depend on the time light from the object takes to arrive to the viewer. This is a secondary calculation that is performed using the distance and speed of light of the objects to see the viewed position.

As far as I know these calculations are performed correctly but there could be errors that have not been discovered. If the view you see does not agree with what you expect please make a request in the bug reporting area.
