Our scopes are our windows to the Universe.
I've loved all my scopes, no matter how poorly made they were.

But the rule of thumb when you're getting serious is to buy the best you can afford.
If that means 2nd hand, great. We're all rather precious about our instruments so you'd rarely find a dud in the classifieds.
