Mike, many years ago I was involved in a wavesailing club. Our contests were based simply on participation. The winner had the satisfaction of simply being the winner and all who participated were placed in a draw for the prizes (in accordance with the sponsors wishes). Needless to say the participation rate was always high and there were never any complaints by the contestants...
