It used to be thought that stars do not merge or collide,but it was found that there where a lot of what are called blue straglers found in certain Globular Clusters,such as 47 Tuc and Omega Cent, and it is now thought that this is caused by the merging of Solar mass stars and reigniting the star formation proccess.astroron
