I have pretty much decided that I am going to save my hard earned and get a televue 5x for using with my toucam to image the planets at high magnification. I am also looking to get 2 really good (nagler if needs be) eyepieces down the track in say 9mm and 25mm
Now for viewing, i have read the excellent thread on the university optics 2" barlow and highly regard the orion 2x shorty plus. I do have a 2" eyepiece, the Ultra wide 80 degree 30mm. But alas this UO is not being made anymore! I have also read about the advantages of the powermates as opposed to barlows.
There is also the orion shorty (not plus) up for grabs on the buy/sell section for $50.
- Am i best to go a 2" barlow like the Orion Barlow deluxe 2x or the Televue Barlow 2.0x powermate and then use my adapter to put in my 1.25" eps?
- or stick with 1.25" and go the shorty plus or the televues powermate series @ 1.25"?
- How does the orion shorty compare to the orion shorty plus?
Thanks
