Depends on what you value. hi fi stands for high fidelity, something which most home theatre sadly lacks (sorry if I'm sounding elitist, but high quality home theatre is VERY costly). I'm a 2 channel guy, and an analogue (not digital) guy at heart. My turntable and cassette deck will sound pretty close to most people's CD players from my experience. That's before I drag the DAC/transport combo out ;-)
