the official word is 47mm, rear of bayonet to sensor/film.
Any camera that will accept a Canon EOS lens will also accept this Leica, by using the adaptor that accompanies it. So it can fit the likes of your new 8300, or any of the EOS digitals, or the QHY8 etc.
Stunning alternative to the likes of the Canon L series lenses though.
