The beer slide has an interesting effect during imaging too. As one increases consumption, the ability to set guiding properly diminishes, but conversly, images look better, so the effect cancels out and everything appears to look normal (on the night). Untill the next morning, when processing is required in the cold light of day.
On balance though, when one considers the grin factor the night before, the extra work required to counter the beer factor in processing, is well worth the effort.
