Book - Observatories of the Southwest [United States]

A Texan colleague has passed on a link to a paperback entitled
"Observatories of the Southwest: A Guide for Curious Skywatchers".

I have not seen the book myself yet, but my Texan colleague said he was
enjoying it.

Apparently the book devotes a chapter each to eight observatories in the
Southwestern United States, including the McDonald, near Fort Davis in
west Texas, the Lowell in Flagstaff in Arizona, Kitt Peak, near Tuscon in Arizona,
the Very Large Array, near Soccorro in New Mexico and Palomar in California.

Now and then forum members have posted requests for recommendations on
astronomical adventures within the United States and possibly "Observatories
of the Southwest" might make a companion for a road trip or at least whet the
appetite of the arm chair traveler.

Combined with the scenic wonders and beauty of this corner of the world,
I highly recommend visiting the Southwest.

My colleague forwarded this link for the book from Amazon -
