In other words although it isn't plausible based on our current understanding we argue over a possibility we have no way of knowing may or may not happen at some future point in time.
So you both have valid points of view are neither of you are right or wrong.

The whole premise of my original question was a hypothetical, that's why I prefaced it with "assuming (for the sake of argument)"
