Years ago I was working on bridge for a freeway extension. The large cable ducts (16 if I remember correctly) run down the middle of South street to Fremantle then off into the ocean. Problem was we had to put three big footings on top of them so it was decided to move them across to one side a bit at a time to minimise disruption. When the day came to expose the cables there were bigwigs everywhere (telecom, main roads, hornibrook you name it). After much sampling and messing around with plans and detection gadgets the excavator operator was told to "dig here". Second bucket was full of cables and wire
