Camera Canon 5DH, Canon 300mm F2.8L at f/5, Hutech LPR filter. Fridge at -10C.
Exposures. 10x( 1m, 2m ) at 400ISO, 10x( 1m, 2m ) and 14x(4m, 8m ) at 1600 ISO. Usual HDR method.
Note how the belt stars are not blown out.

You are quite right, the stars aren't blown out, you use a cardboard stop in front of the lens if I'm not mistaken? This would have helped and removed the normally major diffraction spikes. 
Interesting to compare to Houghy's shot - pretty similar
