I get a lot of people come to the visitors centre and say to me, "I heard blah blah.." When I ask them where they "Heard" this, they don't know.

they heard a lot of cultures predicted the end at 2012. I'm actually pretty sure that's just the slogan/synopsis for this movie to get public controversy, conversation to make the movie more of a curiosity.
Does anyone here have any shameless cut and pastes from ancient cultural texts that actually put the end of the world at this same time?
I for one, have never heard of ANY other cultural myths/predictions/legends besides the Mayan one that corroborates it.
Anyone?
