Yeah, it depends on how your monitor handles brightness up close to the maximum. Might be worth checking to see if your monitor is calibrated, and maybe adjust the brightness or contast.
On my display (Dell 24" lcd) the image is fine, and no part of it is overexposed. Some laptops are very bad at this.
