I had a problem with my mount going full throttle in RA tonight just after booting the Gemini. Tried a few things, one of them swapping cables and I narrowed down the problem to one faulty cable. The end plugs are RJ45. I have the old gemini style box. I checked all the prongs with a multimeter and as far as I can tell the cable is straight through. Like a network cable (blue type). Am I right in assuming I can replace the faulty cable with a straight network cable rather than crimping another one from scratch? Thanks for any hints.
I've put the whole mount down again tonight before realising this.
On a side note I spent probably over an hour getting the QHY8 with the Hyperstar all ready to go
and the mount cable packs it. Typical.
