I think when this technology becomes viable it will take the present form of filling up with hydrogen at the bowser. Whether we burn it in an iternal combustion engine or feed it through a fuel cell is yet to be seen. It will be some time before the technology to recycle the water fast enough to sustain driving a car is produced.
