But an HEQ5 would handle a smaller widefield scope with all the bells and whistles for imaging - say a refractor - a triplet up to say 80-100mm that would do quite well for imaging. I've seen some of the stuff AnexN from thes forums has done lately with almost exactly that combo and they are terrific. SO maybe the thing to do is to resist the aperture fever and come in a bit lower down that scale.

Peter is right, i used an ED80 on my HEQ5 Pro, but that was it, had to up it to an EQ6 for using an 8" reflector
