Steve, There is nothing different between cooling a dslr or a dedicated astro camera.
An astro camera is even colder on the ccd, and as soon as you switch the power off, it will warm it up too.
The way i am doing it is to leave the fan running and the peltier off so the hot side of the cooler still gets cooled and the thermal shock isn't that big
David it is still alu, it is Snake Valley camp in two weeks and i thought by myself "i am not going to open the camera just before camp" as you know Murphy is just around the corner
Will do the copper bit after camp.
