40D Cooling mod mark2.

I have redone the mod so it looks more professional.
I dont recommend this without the proper tools (dremel small files etc) and a lot of patience.
First of all, i did buy a box that was a bit too small so i couldn't fit any connectors in it, like power usb and temperature.
The companies that do these mods get it done with cnc machines and get it perfect everytime

This mod took me 7 hours to do without any special machine, i used a file saw and drill (talking about Mc Gyver here ).

The photos of the end product are taken with a crappy camera and are a bit out of focus because the thing doesn't seem to focus very well.

The first photo is of the back of the cmos and as you can see it is pretty straight to the left hand side where the cold finger has to come out.
where the cold finger comes out of the camera it has to be bend down 90 degrees and then back 90 degrees to come out of a slit, cut in between the connectors.
This mod doesn't require removal of any of the components, it only requires a modified usb plug (shortened and bend 90 degrees to the back of the camera).

The cold-finger is then bend over the usb plug 90 degrees.
All this is for the Canon 40D only, because just about every Canon camera in the wild has another setup of the circuit boards.

Sorry Leon but i stopped making pictures after that first crappy one

I think that the 5D is different on the inside from the 40D and you have to make your own measurements to do this mod.
Just be sure to fit the cold-finger airtight on the cmos.

Here are the crappy pics of the inside and outside of the modded 40D.

Ps: because the cooler isn't in free air any more i loose about 6C cooling power

Here is a good site where you can see how to take an 40D apart.
