I am hoping to visit Marysville before the year is out. I don't want to intrude on the recovery efforts. But I will also be very sad to see properties I loved, gone. But I would like to see the surrounds opened up in a way I've never seen before.
I always feel irritated when I hear - "The fire destroyed XX hectare". As we have seen for decades, much of the flora recovers over a season or two.
Yes, I do accept that there are circumstances when some flora do not regenerate. And of course fauna, property and human lives - sadly.....
OK, I'll accept "The fire burnt through XX hectare, destroying buildings, fences, killing sheep..."
