Hi,

It is, still active, and well overdue for a big eruption statistically. However there are no signs that a big blowup is imminent, and with present science we should get warning several years ahead.

However when something does happen it could potentially be 2500 times worse than Mt St Helens. The main Yellowstone caldera is about 60 Km across.

I read that we have a dormant volcano area on the Australian mainland around Mt Napier and Mt Eccles in Victoria. These have not erupted for thousands of years but are not classified as extinct.
