With Achro's they will naturally throw a violet ring around anything bright.
The thing is that a long focal length like an f12 to f15 will have a lot less of this violet fringing.
Here is the catch ,those short achro's are going to have a lot more fringing.
Some folks find this objectionable. I have a 150mm f7 which is excellent but the same thing in an f5 I would not like.
