All computing science faculties run some variant of UNIX; typically Solaris, so, they do get exposure to other systems, if it's relevant to their studies.

True, they might not need it, but a lot of the youth in college etc are experimenting with other operating systmes, such as Linux. I think you'll find most Universities are using Linux, not Solaris in their computer subjects these days ;-)
