You get what you pay for. Some of the cheap switchmode supplies I see around I wouldnt trust to much.
Me I run an old linear regulated supply that I built about 25 years ago. Designed to deliver 4A at 13.8v regulated with low ripple.
Runs the EQ6 mount swinging a 10" newt without a problem.

For field use I have a regulated/smart charger/lead acid pack. I can use it as a supply if i have 240v or battery if no power is available.
