Glad you liked this one. I'm really fond of it, myself.

It seems landscape photography is a lone sport, lol. And, in reality, I reckon its the camera that should be providing the tips, and, not me! My thought process is really whatever looks good in a potential 3:2, or 2:3 format in my head, is photographed when the light is right, or just about right.

I suppose there is actually more to it than that, but, it's very hard to put those thoughts down. It's a feeling, I guess.

Definitely give it a go. It's kind of like the old skool way of doing what HDR attempts to do. I am actually rather ashamed at myself for throwing myself into HDR so much in my earlier work (a lot of it was posted on this forum). It looks plasticy and fake. It should really have stuck to what it was initially designed for -- global illumination in 3D graphics applications. You only have to do a Google search to see the kind of images that are being created: throw a bunch of files into Photomatix, and "mash butans". But, I suppose that's the thing about art, it's all subjective.

I also agree with you, I'm a lot more fonder of this image than the original. I have some more coming soon, too. And, yep, I was drenched.

This is a great shot!! It rivals the other, if not better IMHO.
The detail is amazing!! Did you get sufficiently saturated for this shot too?
