I think the last time this came up, someone said most meteorites contain metallic particles. Run a magnet over it..
A old experiment is to set up a diagonal sheet, attach some magnets at the lower draining end, then wait for a shower.
Small fragments of "meteorites", get collected in rain clouds and may be collected via this method... I'm not joking... I know a scientist friend whom does this all the time.
