USA Trip (Inclusive of NASA-KSC-Shuttle)

Well, the Mrs and I are off to the USA in late-ish Jan to Mid Feb, for 3 weeks of solid touring.
Trip was booked on Sunday.
Visiting Family and Friends in NY, Florida, New Orleans and Wichita-Kansas.

However, the Florida trip is based solely on the Feb 4th Shuttle launch. We (my doing ) have carefully arranged a dedicated trip for 6 days in the Cape area.
We'll be landing in Orlando, driving to a hotel around Titusville and camping there for 6 odd days.
If the Shuttle get's delayed, which we've allowed for, we'll be off doing other stuff, maybe Disney, definately a tour of the Cape and NASA Visitor Cente. We also have a plan to attack Tampa, but that's an if all goes well.

We have looked at budget motels, but the reviews are putting us off (bed bugs, not clean, only a 1 night stay, etc etc).
We have our sights set on just on the northwest side of Titusville for a motel.

Has anyone else been to the Cape? They've changed a lot of the processes recently for the Shuttle Launch Passes (tickets for the up and close views).
Anyone done this in recent times?
Just would like to here some feedback on the "going's on" during a Shuttle Launch.

This is a "bucket list" item to me.
