I'm no expert, but the basic concept is similar.
From what I read, they both feature photon-based quantum chips rather than the electron-based chips of today. However, the BBC news features a chip that processes data (like a CPU) whereas the Catalyst story describes a chip that just acts a router (chooses the line of travel for data). It seems the latter is far more imminent in its application.
