Tawny Frog Mouth

This photo, like most of my stuff, is a far cry from technically competent, but more of an example of being in the right place at the right time and fluking it. I saw this owl fly in to my yard at dusk while I was setting up for the night. So I whipped the T-ring off my camera, mounted it on its tripod and went for some long exposures of this owl. During every attempt he moved at the last moment and as the light was rapidly dimming, the exposure time was rapidly lengthening, thereby increasing the difficulty of convincing my subject to stay still. This one was taken at 105mm FL, for 30sec. It was my last possible opportunity and it worked. By this point the light was so low I had to resort to autofocus because I could not see anything through the viewfinder.

Hope you appreciate it.
