As to sharpness, it's a bit soft, I did some smart sharpen @ 160% on the full size tif and then some smaller amounts of smart sharpen after resizing to 1024*768. I don't usually like to sharpen this much and to my eyes it looks a bit oversharpened.

That may be, but give me an eye piece any day. I mean, how clinical can you go?
Live view may make it "easier" but is that necessarily what you want?
Half the challenge I believe, is capturing the shot with a fair degree of difficulty.
Live view would only "take away" from my task ahead. Maybe that is just me though.
