A bit of theory and s bit of practical work and a bit of Regulations and you are "on the air". The 2 meter band (144-148MHz) is a handy band and cheap as well I have just paid $119 for a 5W hand held new from a company in WA.

I have a full license for 43 years, the problem is that the amateurs are a bit anal,( there full of them selves) if you don't conform to there ideas you have a fight on your hands so CB are ordinary people
