Yes there is, but here's the paradox... If a piece of software "finds" the supernova then who gets the credit for the discovery???
1. The person who took the image.
2. The software writter whose software found the discrepency in the image.
3. The PC the software is running on?
4. Microsoft (or other) for creating an operating system that made writting software easy so that 2 could actually make it happen.
5. All of the above.... That would make naming interesting
