BIG Binoculars (30x100)

Now only selling the Binoculars - see later post

Show the sky who is the Boss with these light-gatherers.

Regrettably I am selling my biggest pair of astronomical binoculars.

It is 20 months since I bought them from AOE. Here is their website entry:-

" The AOE25x100FB has to be one of the best value binoculars currently available in the market. You cannot compare the optical quality, mechanical construction and huge aperture for such a low price. The fully broadband multicoated optics and large aperture are complimented with a very versatile 25x magnification. This provides extremely sharp, bright, high contrast comfortable views. Special anti-reflection coatings inside the objective tubes enhance the image further by reducing stray internal reflections. Individual focus ensures accurate perfectly focused images."

Except, mine are the 30 magnification model - the only difference is the higher power eyepiece.

They have had plenty of use over that time, and have been well cared for.

These binoculars need a big mount. I built my own.

Note that one photo in the next few posts shows the original version. The mount has since been updated with a robust tripod, an extra 5kg of counterweight, a metal extension post and a 3/8" rather than 1/4" mounting bolt. Supply your own old office gas lift chair.

At this magnification, you need a finder. I added a red dot finder which is easily aligned and aids greatly in finding your target galaxies, nebulae etc.

I'll toss in some home made dew guards and a set of flashing LEDs that fit on the main support bar to discourage people walking into them in the dark.

Binoculars, mount and finder - $480 (1st Sep - now $450)

(
AOE's price on the binoculars - $449; Bintel's price on the finder - $49)

Pickup in Melbourne, or I'll deliver to your place (if you are not too far away) and show you the setup and how to tweak the collimation (if ever this is needed)

Might split later and price individually, but this is best as a package.

If split, then I would ship the red dot finder, I might consider shipping the binoculars. It's not worth shipping the mount. Shipping the binoculars worries me - I want to know that you take ownership of them in top condition.

Reason for selling - raising funds towards a new telescope project.
