Here is one of my favourite regions on the Moon, the Southern Highlands stretching from Clavius to the void of space. Mewlon 180, Vixen x2 Barlow and DMK31 CCD camera. Captured 2nd August 2009, Brisbane, 22:50pm.
Remember the good old days with Registax 3?
Using a 640x480 Toucam, I’d have to capture 4 avi’s to cover this scene, (allowing for overlap) and then process each avi four times, performing an alignment of a suitable feature in each quadrant. Next, you would assemble the (4) quadrants in each avi and blend them into a single image, followed by creating a mosaic from these 4 final images.
Not any longer! The DMK31 with its 1024x768 coverage plus the multiple alignment feature of Registax 5 makes the whole process so much less onerous than it used to be. But, tell that to the youth of today, and they won’t believe you…they just cannot comprehend how tough it was in those days!

Thanks for looking!
