Hmm, this must be model specific? The 40D EOS Utility Manual states that when using Remote Live View on the PC, the Zoom View is a 100% rendering of the image. I must check the EOSU software settings next time I connect, to see if the latest SW release has overtaken the manual.
Also, the 40D rear LCD is only a low res 230,000 pixels and I think some of the later Canon models are over 900,000, following the Nikon lead.
