Yes – the seeing just wasn’t suited to imaging planets that night. It seems that you, Matt, Paul and I seemed to uniformly encounter the same conditions so the jet stream map certainly matched what we all encountered. I guess none of us would have been outdoors had the “Bird Strike” not been visible!

I think I gave myself a little more leeway by using a slightly smaller aperture, a x2 Barlow and the mono DMK21. Also, the selective culling of AVI’s helped me get the best frames and I found that the Max Ent routine in Astra Image Pro 3 really added a welcome touch-up to my output from Registax. The ME deconv seemed to tighten up the detail, smooth out some noise and balance the levels.
